Biography
Kirwin Wyatt (October 04, 1984), also known by his stage name K-durb, is a South African rapper/singer/song-writer/producer. His music is similar to Dr Dre, Timbaland, Notorious BIG, Obita and Tupac with strong messages, songs that people can relate to, phat beats and of course hot party records. He has developed what he likes to call ‘Pinna Style’ which is something new, fresh, funky and much needed or sort after in the South African industry where talent and ambition are very rare these days. According to Kd a Pinna is a strong minded, positive, respectful, at times naughty, skilled and talented winner, a God fearing male. On the social scene a Pinna fades all so called players, hustlers, pimps, thugs, gangsters and stands out from a crowd. The young Durban Knight has his mind set on much bigger fish but blowing up in a huge way is not only a top priority to him, its imminent says K-durb. He has begun chasing his dream to shine amongst the best in the world and compete on international levels. He has a fire burning inside of him to entertain and build a successful music career.
K-durb was initially a member of R&B group Cra-Z-Luv where he started out and developed his singing and song writing skills. They performed in and around Durban before he embarked on his solo quest.
After meeting Obita, a Christian rapper in Jozi who when they first met at a recording studio said to Kd “Homie, I can’t work with you if you ain’t dope enough.” the Hip Hop influence was too great for him to ignore. He worked very closely with Obita and had to develop his rap skills near perfection before he could record with the high standard setting artist. He began making beats at the same time and developed his production skills. “Kd has come a very long way in a very short period of time. It takes most rappers years.” says Obita. K-durb soon produced tracks and recorded with Obita, performed at various shows in Jozi and ‘Tha Durbs’ and they are now the closest of homeboys.
K-durb has also worked with Storm Squad and Big Kid among others. He has performed live on Channel-O, at various Bruin-ou.com shows around Jozi, at the Youth United Against Aids Concert in Wentworth.
He is also a founding member of the Hip Hop group The Pinnaz Club. He has recorded, made beats, wrote songs and performed with the group at the June 16th Youth Day 2007 Concert, at various night clubs and parties in KZN.
He has since worked with producer/songwriter Paul Stainbank, rapper/singer Prinston, Dubble Trubble DJ’s who selected the record ‘Can’t Find The Words’ for their first compilation cd Summer Sensations Vol 1, he features on a record called Attitude EFX with Lx-Seth and appears in the music video which has been broadcast on SABC as well as DSTV and the track is currently playing on national radio stations in SA, singer Rowan McAllistar a.k.a. Row of Cra-Z-Luv, B.I.A (Brothers In Arms) and Trevor Williams for whom he made three jingles for East Coast Radio’s Late Night Vibe which played every night on the show in early 2008.
K-durb performed twice in Umbilo at the Willowvale Hotel. He performed live at the Dip It Low Party he co-hosted with Rowan McAllistar at Sun Coast Casino’s Café Vacca Matta on the 5th August 2008.
K-durb’s single ‘Dip It Low’ which features Row has been selected for the East Coast Radio’s Trevor Williams’ Compilation Cd Vol 2 released in December 2008. The record ‘Can’t Find The Words (Radio Edit)’ is heading for national radio in late January 2009.
K-durb’s debut album ‘Pinna Style’ is due for release in March this year along with his independent record label. There are some star guest appearances on the album.
